Subsequent to the confirmed AUC cases that lead to a quarantine of the Zamalek dorms and the university suspending activities for a week, there have been numerous unsourced reports of other cases. I’ve heard that the MoH announced another case in each of Cairo and Alex. There are rumors of someone being tested from an oil and gas company in Maadi – but no quarantine. And there’s more hearsay claiming 25 other cases.
Oh, and there’s talk of how scientists are concerned that this will somehow cross with the AvianFlu that Egypt has yet to shake and form a SuperMutantFlu.
Cairene, I think it’s normal that we find ‘Swine Flu’ cases in Egypt since the borders are open, but what isn’t normal -from my point of view- is the panic and hestirc acts.
I know we are now is ‘Stage 6’ and the cases reached today (6/13/2009) to “18 cases” however the precautions and to deal witht the whole subject in a responable way is something important from all us.
Allay ystor anyway.
I agree. Hysterics help nothing.
In fact, I was just thinking the other day, that it wouldn’t be such a bad thing to get it now. As you may know, once our bodies acquire immunity/resistance to a certain strain of virus, our systems retain that ‘knowledge’ for life. If you get it now, while it’s summer and you don’t have to worry about the cold or about wind or about rain, then you can get over it quickly and not have to worry about contracting it in the flu season (fall/winter) when your body is weaker and there are other illnesses going around.
Of course I got your point. Our bodies has its magnificent ‘immunity system’ but i think we are abusing it. Anyway, hopefuly the stituation will not be worse in the near future. Let’s wait and see where this ‘mania’ is heading to.
