Thank you! I wish I had more time to actually write my own content. So it's great to see people actually following what I read.

This is a very funny rant and I think most of it is very sensible. But it seems to me that if all these problems are simply the individual's fault, it's difficult to imagine how they could be solved. People constantly hear messages telling them to practice their religion better, but do you think that's really enough? I think it would be more effective to consider these partly as social problems rather than purely as individual problems, and then to see whether there might be social solutions. For example, there might be a lot of social reasons why many people are under a lot of stress (e.g. zahma, financial worries, health-care problems, etc.), so it's likely that people's tempers will flare sometimes, maybe especially when they're fasting. And if it wasn't so expensive to get married in this country, maybe there would be a bit less sexual frustration and relations between men and women could be a little more relaxed. These are social problems that could have social solutions; I agree with you that they're not excuses for behaving badly, but if the goal is to reduce the amount of bad behaviour (instead of just blaming people for behaving badly), maybe it would be better to focus on the social side of the problem, rather than just the individual side.

[...] Why I Hate Ramadan – Ramadan Rant « Cairene’s Nilometer One of the first posts i ever wrote (though perhaps not posted). On all the things i hate about ramadan in Cairo. There's lots of new stuff i'd like to add and perhaps a few edits.. But overall, this is how i feel. Noticed it got a few hits this year, so thought i'd bookmark it.
